About the artist Michael Moschogianis
Photography

About the artist…Michael Moschogianis
(phonetically pronounced: Muska-jen-us)

Coming from a family of Greek heritage, Michael’s creative expression is through photography originally kindled when he became the high school annual photographer. His employment career includes high school teacher, social work administration and portrait/wedding photography. As with most truly gifted and passionate artists, Michael’s most satisfying and productive work is that of “art for art’s sake” photography. He has worked as a professional photographer for approximately 30 years.

Art photography is a lot more than merely “taking a picture” with a good camera. As with any work of art, there is the conceptual stage (the idea) followed by an approach (how to make the idea come into being). Elements of composition, color, texture and philosophical approach are equally important in an art photo as it is in an oil painting. Michael knows his medium extremely well and demonstrates it by enhancing images during the printing process and taking the mechanical aspects of what a camera can do well beyond what most of us think photography is all about. The end result is “a very good painting” in the medium of photography.

He is currently exhibiting work with several galleries in Minnesota and attending most of the major Art Fairs and Festivals throughout the region. Michael continues to work as a full time photographer, augmenting income as a part time school bus driver. This “day job” offers a very flexible schedule that does not conflict with producing work and attending shows.
