Painting has been a part of Margaret’s life since she was young, growing up on a farm in Western Minnesota. Her “gift” blossomed in school. Margaret was sought when projects required creative expertise.
This led to becoming the art editor for her school newspaper.
After she married, Margaret was able to attend art courses at Southwest State University. There she learned art history and took part in general art study. A love for nature and its never ending beauty settled Margaret into her main choice for subject matter. Over the next several years, she attended workshops with established artists teaching technique in nature painting. Raising a family took time away from serious artistic endeavor for a while. Even so, she managed to “keep her hand”, painting as a “hobby”.
For several years now, Margaret has been a serious painter. Acceptance in exhibitions has become common place. Her passion is fueled through watercolor. This unforgiving medium is “magical” to her senses and methods. Favorite subjects are flowers. Margaret enjoys taking “license” to make a painting “interesting”. She moves elements around, playing shadow against light.
A milestone in Margaret’s career happened when Gina B Designs accepted several images for reproduction. Made into greeting cards, the art of Margaret Werlinger is making regular appearance in gift and stationary shops.
